Inspiration 1 — Moxie Modern Prairie Home
Led by the well-known architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the Prairie School of Chicago developed the “Prairie style” of homes with strong design influence from Japan. Traditional Japanese architecuture has many common elements that the Prairie school adapted for the American home market, including geometric-inspired glass elements, bold roof eaves and overhangs, long horizontal spaces, and a breezy interior style. They often feature promenent porches, uneven floor arrangements, and trim made of wood or stone.

Inspiration 3 — Cozy Getaway Lake Cabin
Basic cottages were home to farm workers and their families as far back as the Middle Ages. The European countryside was dotted with these small peasant dwellings. Today cottages are still “economy-sized,” one or one and a half stories high, but they are used by a variety of people mostly for vacation or getaway situations either as rentals or a second home. Cozy cabins are often found near tourist attractions such as lakes, parks, beaches, amusements, etc.

Inspiration 4 — Dansby Country Ranch Home
Spanish-American homebuilders moving into the southwest United States in the 1800s brought this popular house design with them. In the late 1940s when the U.S. economy began its post-World War II boom, and as federal incentives made it easier for Americans to become homeowners, ranch style architecture spread across the nation. One of its biggest draws was its single story plan, which made it cheaper for builders to gather the resources it needed on a per-house basis, primarily workers and building materials. Ranch houses are typically defined as a simple layout, one story, and wide-but-shallow.

Inspiration 5 — Exeter Manor Greek Revival Home
In the mid-1800s in the United States wealthy Americans often admired the philosophy, economics, and architecture of the ancient Greeks, and so during this period of time larger home designs began taking inspiration from the classical buildings of Greece. These Greek revival houses had symmetrical geometries, simple lines, and a minimum of ornamentation. They sometimes featured Greek columns and wide gable roofs. In the South similar home plans were called “Southern Colonial.”
